Naughty or Nice?

We got a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus last night. Looks like my kids have made Santa's nice list after all.

Our Christmas tree looks a little small. It worked perfectly in our apartment but now it just looks a little pathetic. Even Hailey is asking that we get a big tree, maybe I will be able to find one on clearance after Christmas.

Notice Hailey's much shorter hair. We have been talking about cutting Hailey's hair for a while, but one night I noticed she had a tangle in her hair. My mom and I tried EVERYTHING to get it out, and nothing would. So, she went home with my mom that night and got her hair cut.

Two Months

Yesterday we took the boys in for their two month appointment, which we were almost late to because we had two different women stop us in the parking lot to talk to us. I swear that with twins everyone feels like they can just stop us to talk, asking us if they are twins, if they are identical, tell us of someone they know that has twins or just make any kind of comment they feel like. It is really annoying to have to explain yourself to a complete stranger. Anyway, the boys are growing well. Easton was 10 pounds, 1 ounce and Mason was 9 pounds, 5 ounces and both boys were almost 22 inches. They also had to get three shots. When we got home we told Hailey to be really careful with the boys so that she wouldn't lean on their legs when she gives them kisses. A couple minutes later she started crying and when we asked her what was wrong she said she was crying cause the boys had to get shots. It was really sweet, so we told her that they had bandaids and tylenol to make them feel better. She loves her brothers so much!

The boys love to take baths. It completely relaxes them, so it would be great if I could bath them every night but things are so crazy that they get baths whenever I have an extra minute.

Like I said, things are a little busy and crazy right now. These are a few pictures of us trying to sneak in a little more sleep. These boys love to cuddle and will knock you out faster than any sleeping pill. My doctor told me that by four months they should be sleeping through the night (one can only hope). I don't know if it is the lack of sleep or if the twins took every ounce of my memory but I can't remember anything these days and sometimes I feel like I am losing my mind. So, I hope everyone will forgive us if we seem a little distant. I swear just making a phone call sometimes seems to take me days to get around to. Hopefully, things will start feeling a little more normal as the boys get on a schedule.

Our first family picture (minus Hailey). I'm pretty sure that even though Greg is wearing a mask, I am the only one smiling in this picture and I just gave birth. You gotta love modern medicine.

Hailey holding Baby-B (they still didn't have names at this point) and giving him loves. At the hospital she decided that she liked Baby-B more and wouldn't hold Baby-A. Since then she has changed her mind and decided that she likes both of them and she is contantly giving them hugs and kisses (probably more than they would like).

(For the record I hate how these binkies look, but the boys wouldn't cooperate without them and their other binkies are still a little big for their mouths.)

Ready or not...

Here we come!!!

At my doctor's appointment this past Monday, my doctor finally set a date to take the babies. He doesn't want me to go much past 37 weeks because he says that there are more risks than benefits at that point. So the babies will be here on Wednesday, May 6th. (Unless, of course, the babies decide that they want to come before that.) Right now I am scheduled for a c-section because Baby-A is breech. But I will get an ultra-sound this Monday as well as the morning of delivery just to make sure that is still the case.
Wow! Less than one week to go... it's really hard to imagine how much our lives are going to change.

April's Recap...

Since I have been a total slacker with posting, I thought I would just highlight April's events.

April 6th - my birthday. Being eight months pregnant with twins there isn't too much you can do, or rather there isn't too much that you want to do. However, Greg and I did manage to escape for dinner and a movie while Grandma and Grandpa Richards watched Hailey.

April 11th - Dying Easter Eggs. Hailey had been looking forward to coloring eggs all month long. She even had some princess stickers to put on the eggs.

April 12th - Easter. Hailey woke up to a note left by the Easter Bunny letting her know that he had hidden her basket and she would have to find it. After we had a big breakfast over at Grandma and Grandpa Cole's followed by an egg hunt outside. Uncle Kevin kept them all busy by re-hiding the eggs behind them when they weren't looking. We had dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Richards and Hailey had another egg hunt with her cousins.

April 23rd - I finally hit 35 weeks which means that babies should be healthy and have a great chance of leaving the hospital at the same time I do. Wahoo! It finally feels like there is an end in sight.

Bed Rest... Sort Of

This past Monday I had a doctor's appointment and he gave me the STRONG recommendation to stop working. So, the next day I had to go into work to let them know and tie up a few loose ends. It felt so weird but at the same time I really felt like it was the right thing to do. And after a few days of being able to sleep in and rest whenever I need it, I know it was definitely the right time. Not only am I feeling better by resting but I have noticed that the babies have been more active. Hopefully this will help the babies go full term, which is the ultimate goal. I'm a little worried of going a little stir crazy, so I'm trying to pick up a few projects that will keep me occupied. I want to crochet some blankets for the babies but other than that I don't really know what else I'm going to do. I would love some input on any really good books to read or other ideas of things to do. I'm not on strict bed rest, but keep in mind that obviously I have to keep things low key.
I have another ultra sound next week, so it will be fun to see how much the babies have grown. And the week after that I will have another doctor's appointment and then start seeing him on a weekly basis. It feels like I have a long way to go, but it is definately going by really fast and I'm starting to feel really unprepared for all of this. But as scared or worried as I get, the excitement always takes over. I love being a mom and I can't wait to have two boys join our family.

26 weeks and counting...

I have been meaning to take some pictures of my growing belly... and here I am 26 weeks pregnant and I finally took a picture. The sad part is, I never took any profile shots when I was pregnant with Hailey; so with one picture down, I am already doing better than the first time around.
I feel like I still have a long way to go and I'm also wondering how big and uncomfortable I am going to get. If I lay down on my back I get light headed, if I lay on my side my leg ends up going numb, and standing or sitting put alot of pressure on my stomach. But the good news is that everything is going smoothly so far. I haven't gone into premature labor and haven't really had any contractions yet. The babies are growing really well, and at my last ultra sound baby A was 2 lbs. 3 oz. and baby B was 1 lb. 14 oz. So, my plan is to try and do whatever I can to keep these babies in as long as I can.
And on the note of my last ultra sound, we were able to see a lot of things... maybe even too much. First, one of the babies was literally kicking the other one in the head, which I'm sure won't be the last time that happens. Then the ultra sound tech showed us one of the babies hands and his "part" telling us that boys develop those habits early. I didn't really know how to respond, so I just looked over at Greg and laughed. I can already tell these boys are going to be trouble.

Happy Valentines Day!

This was the best smile I could get out of this sick little girl. She came down with a horrible cough and a runny nose on Friday; which I think that I passed along to her. I have been sick for about two weeks now and this makes the second year in a row that I have been sick on Valentines. Still, we had a fun day filled with pink heart shaped pancakes and driving all over the valley to deliver Valentines.

More snow...

Although Hailey loves playing in the snow and looks like a cute pink marshmallow in her coat, I am definately ready for some warmer weather.

Dance Class

We survived our first dance class!

Dance class was actually Hailey's idea, she asked me shortly after her birthday if she was now old enough to go to dance. I thought that since she was showing so much interest in it she would really like it; and I thought it was a great idea. Luckily, I didn't have to search at all to find a good teacher. Our friend, Brittani, teaches dance and has her own dance studio in her basement. We joined a class that had just started a few weeks prior and only had three girls in it so far. It was perfect!!! I think it would have been more intimidating for Hailey if there would have been more girls. Anyway, Hailey was still a little shy and preferred to watch the other girls dance until about the last ten minutes, then she agreed to dance only if I helped her. After class, Hailey kept asking me when we were going to go again. She was a little bummed that she would have to wait a whole week. Hopefully she will warm up a little sooner next time and I think she will have so much fun. I have to give a big thanks to Brittani, she is not only a very talented dancer but a talented and creative teacher as well.

Happy Birthday!

I can't believe that another year has come and gone and now my little girl is three years old. She is growing up so fast and sometimes it makes me a little sad. But I absolutely love the age she is at right now, watching her learn new things and being able to talk to her and tell her things that she now understands and remembers.
I had a lot of fun planning her birthday this year. A princess theme seemed perfect for her this year as she is constantly asking her dad or Grandpa if they will be her prince and dance with her or asking Grandma and I to play the part of the wicked step-mother and step-sister so that she can be Cinderella. When I made her invitations the excitement started and she loved them so much it was a little hard for her to give them away.

This year Hailey decided that she wanted to wear her "princess dress" to her party and I was a little surprised that she wore it all night long.

Hailey loved her princess cake. It actually didn't take me as long as I thought it would, probably because I didn't do anything fancy with the frosting like is showed in the picture. But this is my kind of cake... just frost the cake and put on the castle pieces and tada... instant princess cake. I also made some princess wands out of star-shaped rice krispie treats and sticks. They turned out so cute and it was the first time I have ever made rice krispie treats that didn't turn hard as a rock the next day.

It was a great birthday and we want to thank everyone that came. We love you all!!!

The Final Days of 2008...

Anyone who knows me already knows that my family runs on CST (Cole Standard Time) which means we are late to everything. So, that is my excuse for not posting these Christmas pictures earlier. (That and being pregnant with twins, taking care of a very active three-year old and working full time is taking every ounce of energy that I have.) But even though they are late, I would have been really disappointed in myself if I wouldn't have posted any at all.

This is why shopping early really pays off. We got to spend a lot of December just relaxing and spending time together at home.

We went to Thanksgiving Point with Brad, Carly and Alex. Unfortunately, Greg was really sick and we decided to go home before seeing all of the lights. But Hailey and Alex got to see the reindeer that were there, so it was still a really fun night.

Lane and Melanie hosted the Cole family Christmas party and it was a blast. We had breakfast which was followed by all of the grandkids in my family exchanging presents. After that the dads helped the kids make a snowman countdown craft project while the moms made their own family magnet board. I loved seeing the pictures of Hailey working on her project. And if that wasn't enough Lane somehow ended up giving all of the kids rides on his forklift; which they loved! It was great to get the whole family together; especially since it doesn't happen to often.

Christmas was great! Hailey had been especially good this year. She loved everything she got but her favorites were the table and chairs and the disney princess dolls. I have always loved Christmas but having a child definately brings back the magic of it all.

2008 was a wonderful year and we are looking forward to a very exciting and eventful 2009!
